Remote-first-hubs

October 1

Hi, I’m Kallie! I’m part of the Junction team in Boston, working as a Senior Sales Development Associate. I wanted to share how our remote-first-hub setup works for me because it’s been a big part of my productivity and growth at Junction.

Working remote lets me own my schedule. My mornings overlap with teammates in GMT, so we can sync and move projects forward together. The rest of the day is mine, and I know the time I set aside for focus will actually be quiet and interruption-free.

However, what’s been key for me is having teammates nearby. With most of my team being centered around our East Coast hubs, I can grab a co-working day, coffee, or whiteboard session when I need it. My manager Eric is in NYC, and we’ve been trading off meeting there or in Boston. A couple of days together each month keeps us aligned and helps me feel supported, even when most of my work is remote.

We have perks in place that make this easy: a productivity budget for co-working, a monthly social budget for meetups, and company off-sites twice a year. My first one is coming up this November in Miami, and I’ve been counting down the days. Having face-to-face time allows me to feel connected to the team and makes the remote days even stronger.

Maitham, our founder, has been intentional about how and where we hire, which means our setup is remote-first but not remote-only. That’s what feels different about Junction—being a remote employee here doesn’t mean working in isolation. It means having the freedom to focus, while still being close enough to connect, learn, and laugh with the team. It keeps me productive and makes work fun!

Here’s how the rest of the team describes their experience:

🇺🇸 Isabel - Customer Success Manager - NYC

”Being part of a remote-first but not remote-only team gives me the best of both worlds: the flexibility to do my best work from home (or my favorite coffee shop), while still having those in-person days in NYC to connect, collaborate, and share laughs with the team!”

🇵🇹 Pires - Technical Lead - Portugal

”Remote work gives you flexibility that can’t be matched. It allows me to work on my preferred schedule, have focus time, and have me time that I don’t spend driving in and out of the office. However, it can make you feel disconnected at times, so having the ability to just go meet the team whenever and co-work is a big plus. But for the love of god, no more pizza dinners when I drive to Lisbon.”

🇺🇸 Naomi - Head of Data & AI - NYC

“In my role, I’ve come to value the balance between deep focus and human connection. Remote-first work gives me the ability to block time for complex technical tasks and problem-solving, while my in-person days fosters better collaboration, trust, and team energy. I appreciate that Junction has deliberately designed for both, because culture and execution thrive when people have space to think and space to connect.”

🇬🇧 Julia - Product Engineer - London

"One of the reasons I joined Junction was because of the remote-first culture and focus on creating an environment conducive to deep work. I love being able to set my own schedule, work when I’m at my best, and still have the chance to meet up with teammates in person for social activities and collaborative work.”

🇺🇸 Aditya - Head of Operations - Boston

“As a working parent, remote work is a godsend - allowing me to be hyper focused on work but also having flexibility to accommodate the dynamics of family life while providing time back (from commuting) for family or personal priorities. At the same time, having teammates nearby and co-working 1 day a week provides a great opportunity to still build relationships, exchange ideas more fluidly and make work more fun. And allows me to get my steps in which is really important when you are sitting in a desk most of the day!”
